Wearstrip-Protected Flame-Retardant Duct Hose
The Springflex SD-W is the wearstrip version of our SD duct hose, built on the same lightweight coated-fabric construction with a spring steel wire helix but adding a sacrificial abrasion strip along the outside. That wearstrip takes the damage when the hose is dragged across concrete, gravel, scaffolding, or rough flooring, extending service life significantly in demanding ventilation and HVAC applications.
Where the SD-W Fits
This hose is the go-to for portable cooling and heating, HVAC and event tent setups, construction site ventilation, mining and confined space ventilation, smoke ejector operations, and any application where the duct is moved repeatedly and gets dragged across surfaces. The flame-retardant coating adds safety in environments with ignition concerns.
Compared to the SD
The SD-W is the upgrade from the Springflex SD for any operation where the hose takes abrasion on the outside. If drag is not a concern, the SD saves weight and cost.
Choosing the Right Size
Size the SD-W to match your blower or HVAC outlet, typically 8"-16" ID for most portable cooling, heating, and ventilation equipment. The wearstrip runs the full length, so any size order has the same drag-protection benefit. Because the hose compresses for transport, you can order a longer run than you think you need without worrying about storage — it packs down small between jobs.
The Spring-Flex SD-W Hose is a single-ply, yellow neoprene coated polyester fabric hose that has been reinforced with a spring steel wire helix, and external PVC wear strip. It is available with an ID of 8" and 12", and a hose length of 12', or 25' in order to get a custom fit for your application.
