R-4 Insulated Dual-Layer Hose for Minimal Heat Loss
The Heat-Flex Flex-Vest is a thermally insulated dual-layer hose built for air handling applications where minimizing heat loss across the run matters. The inner layer is a double-ply iron oxide red silicone-coated fiberglass hose rated -65°F to 550°F (intermittent to 600°F). The outer layer is a single-ply black neoprene-coated polyester hose rated -40°F to 250°F. Between them sits 1" of fiberglass insulation delivering an R-4 thermal value. Available up to 6" inside diameter.
Where the Flex-Vest Fits
This hose is purpose-built for insulated dryer applications and air handling at low positive and low negative pressures where the air being moved needs to stay close to its source temperature. The combination of high-temp inner construction, R-4 insulation, and abrasion-resistant outer layer makes it the right call when a standard single-layer high-temp hose would lose too much heat across the run.
Sizing & Install Best Practices
Match inside diameter to your dryer or air handling outlet. Flex-Vest is available up to 6" ID. On length, allow enough reach to cover the full distance from heat source to delivery point without stretching, since insulated hose is heavier and less compressible than single-layer alternatives. Avoid sharp bends that pinch the insulation layer, and support the hose along the run so the weight is not carried by the end connections. For non-insulated high-temperature air handling, the Heat-Flex GS is the standard option.
